Anybody who knows why the have chosen the 5-door, when the 3-door would be lighter and a have higher degree of torsional stiffness? (i don't know if 'torsional stiffness' is the right word as all my engineering books are in danish.)

Not true, I've driven the 1.9 TDI alot, and yes, there definately is turbo lag.

Your opinion, can't really see how you can put a very good handling little hatchback in your list of "worst cars". I would've said this no matter what car it was. And the older Fiesta's was very well handling cars as well.
